Boeing Shanghai Completes In-flight Wi-Fi Installation for Nok Air’s 737-800s

Brief View: Nok is the first airline in Asia to offer free high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi



SHANGHAI, Oct. 10, 2014 – Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd., (Boeing Shanghai) successfully completed the first of three in-flight Wi-Fi installations for Nok Air 737-800s in September. Work on the remaining two aircraft will be performed later this year at Boeing Shanghai’s facility at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

Nok Air will begin offering free in-flight Wi-Fi to its 737-800 customers this month, making it the first airline in Asia to do so. The Wi-Fi devices are manufactured by Row 44; Thaicom is the high-speed internet provider.

Established in February 2004, Nok Air is Thailand’s premium low-cost airline registered under Nok Airlines Public Company Limited. The airline offers domestic services out of Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport. Currently it operates 16 Boeing 737-800s, two ATR72-500s and two Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 NextGen. 

Boeing Shanghai is a joint venture between Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authorities and China Eastern Airlines. Boeing Shanghai is a full service MRO and offers a broad range of services from engineering, aircraft maintenance and modification to material management, and component repair and overhaul. Boeing Shanghai supports customers operating throughout the world.
