Brief View

Soon, airlines from all around the globe will be able to receive services from a world-class, first-rate hangar for aircraft modification and repair in Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Yesterday Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co. (Boeing Shanghai), Ltd. held a piling ceremony for its first hangar, which can accommodate two wide-body aircraft.

The hangar which is expected to be fully operational in April 2009 is part of the first phase of construction for this joint venture. Currently one of the joint venture partners, Shanghai Airlines, is loaning the use of its hangar space and tools for Boeing Shanghai to provide these much needed MRO services. When the phase two facility is completed in 2010, Boeing Shanghai will have a four-bay hangar capable of housing four 747 or 777 wide-body aircraft, providing aircraft modification, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MMRO) services to help build Shanghai Pudong International Airport into an international aviation hub.
