Boeing’s Official Launch of Aviation Modification and Maintenance Services in China

Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd (Boeing Shanghai) completed a routine check of a 737 airplane for Shanghai Airlines on March 1st. This is the 1st aircraft maintenance of Boeing Shanghai approved by CAAC, featuring the official launch of Boeing Shanghai’s conversion and maintenance services in Mainland China.

It’s known that Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd. was established in June 2006 and has become a new member of the China MRO market. As the first aviation MMRO venture outside the U.S.with The Boeing Company as a majority shareholder, the strategic positioning of business is to share China’s rapid economic growth based on the best of OEM to help build the local aviation maintenance and modification capability for Shanghai aviation hub.

On January 22, Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd held the Construction Ceremony for Phase I Hangar with the capacity of two large-sized aircrafts. Previously, Boeing Shanghai has leased hangar bay and related facilities from the hangar of SAL for its maintenance service. Phase I construction is scheduled to be completed in April 2009 and 2010 for Phase II construction. When the time comes, the four-bay hangar of Boeing Shanghai may handle four B747 or B777 airplanes at one time, offering aircraft maintenance capability to help build Shanghai Pudong International Airport into an international aviation hub.
