Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd. (Boeing Shanghai) is a joint venture among Boeing, The Shanghai Airport Authority, and Shanghai Airlines. The Ministry of Commerce of China issued a certificate of approval to the joint venture in early June of 2006, and the Shanghai Bureau of Industry and Commerce granted a business license June 29 of the same year. Boeing Shanghai's headquarters is at Shanghai Bank Tower, Pudong and it's hangar is based at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai. The registered capital for the joint venture is 85 million USD. The Boeing Company is the largest shareholder (60%) of Boeing Shanghai.
The future hangar of Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services is located next to the hangar of Shanghai Airlines in Pudong Airport, covering an area of 111,645 square meters. Phase I construction is scheduled to complete in April 2009 and Phase II in 2010. With the area of 164m*100m, Phase I hangar has a capacity for two 747s or two 777s airplanes. On completion of Phase II construction, the hangar, with the area of 322m * 100m, can contain four 747s or four 777s airplanes at one time. It’s estimated that the hangar construction will start at the end of 2007.
In order to build up the maintenance capacity as soon as possible, Boeing Shanghai has signed lease contracts with Shanghai Airlines to lease a hangar bay and related facilities/equipment for aircraft maintenance services.
