Shanghai, China – Jun 20th 2024 – Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd (Boeing Shanghai), a joint venture between the Boeing Company, Shanghai Airport Authorities, and China Eastern Airlines, is pleased to announce the groundbreaking of its new facility.  This marks a significant milestone in the company's strategic expansion to accommodate future development and the growing needs of its bonded business operations.

The new state-of-the-art hangars, strategically positioned in the Lingang Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone, will enable Boeing Shanghai to leverage the unique regional and policy advantages of being located in the Bonded Zone.  This advantageous positioning within the Bonded Zone will provide Boeing Shanghai with both logistical benefits and economic incentives that are expected to drive growth and enhance service offerings to its global customer base.

The construction of the new facility is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025.
With a land area of 125 Mu and a total investment of RMB 850 million, the new hangars are designed to accommodate four wide body and two narrow body aircraft simultaneously, which will significantly enhance the hangar utilization rate and overall production capacity for Boeing Shanghai.  This expansion is in alignment with Boeing Shanghai’s strategic focus on wide body aircraft maintenance services and underscores their commitment to delivering superior service quality and efficiency to airline customers worldwide.

"Today's groundbreaking ceremony not only represents the physical expansion of our facilities but also the growth of our ambition and capability to serve the aviation industry with unparalleled efficiency and expertise," said Mark Sisson, CEO of Boeing Shanghai. "Our new facility in the Lingang Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone will propel us towards our strategic goals, allowing us to deliver even more value to our airline partners."
