February 28th 2024, Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd (Boeing Shanghai) and UK based Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA) celebrated the completion of the 25th C-check for VAA’s B787 fleet at Boeing Shanghai’s hangar at Shanghai Pudong Airport.  Boeing Shanghai leadership team and B787 program team led by Boeing Shanghai CEO Mark Sisson, and customer representatives participated in this ceremony.  Liu Qing, President of Boeing China, also attended the event.  Achieving the milestone further strengthens the long-term partnership between the two parties who started business cooperation in 2020.

“We are very grateful for the confidence Virgin Atlantic Airways has placed in our team,” said Mark Sisson, CEO of Boeing Shanghai.  “Virgin Atlantic is an important customer for Boeing Shanghai and we look forward to further deepening our collaboration with them in future.”

To date, Boeing Shanghai has completed more than 100 B787 base maintenance checks for its customers including Virgin Atlantic Airways. A C-check is an extensive check of the airplane's systems and components that can require several days to perform.

Boeing Shanghai was established in June 2006 as a joint venture of Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authorities and China Eastern Airlines, providing a broad range of services from engineering, aircraft maintenance and modification to component repair and overhaul and supply chain management.  Its base maintenance and modification capabilities cover major and minor checks, structure modifications, interior refurbishment and passenger-to-freighter conversion.  The aircraft types that Boeing Shanghai can serve include B787, B777, B767, B737CL and B737NG.

Headquartered in London, Virgin Atlantic Airways was founded in 1984 by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson with innovation and customer service at its core.  This year marks a special milestone for the company, celebrating their 40th birthday.  In 2023, it was voted the UK's only global five-star airline by APEX for the 7th consecutive year, an incredible achievement based solely on certified customer feedback.
