SHANGHAI, June 5, 2008 -- Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd. (Boeing Shanghai) recently received their 145 Maintenance Organization Certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).  The certification allows Boeing Shanghai to launch its maintenance services.

The certification includes: aircraft maintenance (including C1 – C5 checks, modification related maintenance and component repair business, and other aviation services); spare parts sales and repair, related engineering and technical services.

With the goal of providing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to customers Boeing Shanghai was established in June 2006.  Construction began on a four-bay hangar for wide-body airplanes in early 2008. The first phase of construction, expected to be fully operational in 2009, will provide important facilities for the business. Recently Boeing Shanghai performed the scheduled check (2C Check) on one of Shanghai Airlines’ Boeing 737s. This was the 1st aircraft maintenance Boeing Shanghai completed after earning a temporary 145 certification.

Boeing Shanghai applies the concept of LEAN production, which will continuously improve the controlling and operation system of maintenance production. The implementation of LEAN from the beginning of work enables Boeing Shanghai to create value for customers from the first repair.

“We are very pleased with the certification from the CAAC and we look forward to receiving a similar certification from the FAA,” says Tim Premselaar, Boeing Shanghai CEO. “This is a very exciting time for us and we look forward to serve as an important port of the Chinese aviation industry
