SHANGHAI, Feb. 12, 2009 – Today Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd. (Boeing Shanghai) safely raised its 1,936-ton steel roof and secured it to the top of the hangar poles. This is a major milestone in the first phase of construction of the Boeing Shanghai facility at Pudong International Airport.
The first phase of construction will create a two-bay hangar that is over 50,000 square meters in size. This hangar will accommodate several different Boeing airplanes including 737s, 747s, 767s and 777s. The hangar is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009.
Boeing Shanghai was established in June 2006 as a joint venture of Boeing, Shanghai Airport Authorities and Shanghai Airlines. Boeing Shanghai will provide modification, maintenance, repair and overhaul services primarily to regional and international airlines as well as to domestic Chinese airlines.
