16th July 2011, Boeing Shanghai hosted 45 children from Shanghai Children's Welfare Institution, which is part of“One Boeing and One Service Day” activity. It was synchronized with Boeing volunteer activities throughout the world.

This global event was initiated by Boeing Global Corporate Citizenship department, and is now introduced into China for the first time by Mr. Marc Allen, President of Boeing China, and Ms. Anne Roosevelt, Vice President of Global Corporate Citizenship. The single objective of this program is to make the world a better place.

On this day, 60 volunteers of Boeing Shanghai showed children around Boeing Shanghai’s state-of-the-art hangars. Yangtze River Express Airlines Company donated a Boeing 747-400 freighter and crew. The children were extremely excited to have the opportunity to tour the plane and even sit in the flight deck. Boeing Shanghai was honored to provide these children with chance to have fun and expand their experience.

Shanghai Children’s Welfare Institute is a Charitable Social Welfare Institution responsible for caring for children with disabilities and deformities, and also provides family care services. Its predecessor was a Baby Care Center established by Catholic Church Union in 1911, it later changed its name to Shanghai Children’s Welfare Institute in 1956. Currently, Shanghai Children’s Welfare Institute has more than 600 orphans, abandoned children with disabilities, and there is more than 300 staff.

It is Boeing Shanghai’s social responsibility and obligation to serve for the society and the community. Boeing Shanghai appreciates the full support from Boeing China and Yangtze River Express Airlines Company.
